We've made it easy for you to make a submission to the Royal Commission Inquiry into the 15th March Attack.
The Royal Commission has a mandate to make significant recommendations to the Government about making New Zealand safer, we suspect a number of people will try to simplify the issue and blame firearms and call on further bans and restrictions on law-abiding firearms owners. The full submission of COLFO can be read here.
The Fair and Reasonable campaign is asking supporters to use the form below to ensure the Commission hears the voices of licensed law-abiding firearms owners.
We've drafted a customisable template for you to send the Commission – which you can edit as you wish.
Our lawyers have advised us that the Commission will not publicly release submissions or personal details of submitters and all information will be stored on a secure database. Similarly, we will hold your information in the strictest confidence.
We encourage you to:
- Insert your background where we have marked ### - tell the Commissioners about yourself — such as your occupation and volunteer work you may do. We want to demonstrate to the Commissioners how diverse (and mainstream) the firearms community is.
- Where we have marked ~~~ please tell the Commission about your own experience with the ‘fit and proper’ person test. Ideally, we would like to highlight for the Commissioners the difficulty in passing vetting prior to 2015, to what we understand Brenton Tarrant went through since changes that were made that year.
